Koh Phi Phi

Koh Phi Phi is beautiful. There was a 20BHT "admission" fee that is for cleaning the island. I stopped at a dive shop to ask about cheap accommodation and got pointed in the right direction. Checked out The Rock Backpackers (200bht 16 bed dorm)
and it didn't look that great. Very crowded dorms and didn't seem that
clean and maybe lots of mosquitos. So I looked at Anita's across the
street (200bht 16 bed dorm) and stayed there. The bathrooms are really
clean and the girl working there is very nice. Talked her down to
175bht/night if stay 4 nights. Spent 3 nights in the dorm and then
moved to a private room with king size bed for 300bht (talked her down
from 350). There is a private room for 200bht but it has always been
full. There is tons of cheap accommodation on Phi Phi. The Lonely
Planet's description is completely wrong. There is a HUGE backpackers
scene and tons of parties on the beach. It's awesome. The beach bars
give out free buckets of booze and shots all the time and there is a
mini-mart right there where you can buy beers for 60bht so partying
can be pretty cheap. The Lonely Planet was right about the restaurant
Papaya. It has really good Pad Thai (70bht) and giant portions

I hiked up to the viewpoint which is really nice and then down the
backside to Runtee Bay which is a really cool place with just a few
bungalow places. It's very hard to get to by walking though and a boat
to town is 500bht. There are huts on the beach you can get for 500bht
though and it is really quiet and sweet.

Koh Phi Phi was awesome but after a week of raging I had to get out of
there so I found a boat/bus to Bangkok cause the weather wasn't
looking too good. Bought the ticket from some place in town for 550
bht including the ferry to the mainland and the 12 hour bus ride. The
bus was ok, not the best I've been on. The downstairs looked like the
best seating option but I wasn't sure if I was allowed to sit down
there do I played it safe and grabbed a window seat upstairs. The ride
was 12 hours with 1 stop 2 hours in to "check tickets" and another
about half way through at an overpriced restaurant. I highly recommend
drugs or alcohol for the ride cause I only slept about 3 hours. The bus arrived in Bangkok around 6am and dropped us near Khao San Road which is the backpackers' area.
